Who we are

    The Charge is the student ministry of Bull Street Baptist Church, which serves students from grades 6-12. 

    The Charge has three main objectives:


    1) Saving Faith in Jesus Christ: The primary focus of The Charge is the conversion and discipleship of the students of Bull Street. The title The Charge is based on the most fundamental mission of the church, the Great Commission in Matthew 28:18-20. This passage informs the first two purposes of The Charge. As Christians we are responsible for the spiritual education of the next generation. The highest end of spiritual education is to call students to repent of their sins and believe in the gospel of Jesus Christ.     2) Equipping Students to Make Disciples: Our primary function is to fulfill the Great Commission by making disciples of the students under our care. Accordingly, our second aim is to turn the students outward to practice the same charge

    given by Jesus.


    3) Encouraging Students Toward Broader Involvement in the Local Church: While we certainly want students attending and excited about The Charge, we also understand that The Charge is not the end goal of our efforts. The Charge aims to be nothing more or less than a ministry of Bull Street Baptist Church.

    What we do

    Inductive Bible Study

    The main avenue of teaching at The Charge is our midweek inductive bible study. We believe that the best way to call students to repentance and saving faith is to teach them the Word of God. By studying Scripture verse by verse, we also seek to equip students to read and apply the Word more effectively on their own.


    Biblical Survey

    While studying the Bible verse by verse helps to pull specific application from small sections of scripture, we also see value in helping students to see the bigger picture in Scripture. Studying books of the Bible in larger sections allows students to understand themes that are harder to see when studying small pieces.


    Theological Study

    We know that students first and foremost need to learn how to read the Word of God. Along with the study of the Bible, we also believe that students should know how we come to doctrinal conclusions about Biblical truth.


    The Charge meets weekly on the third floor of the Education Building on Wednesday Nights at 6:30 pm, Sundays for Sunday School Hour at 9:15 am.
